Winter Fire Safety

Home Fires Are In The News Daily

Sadly, two families that I know from totally different parts of the United States suffered the loss of their homes to fire. Thankfully, one family got out safely, despite being technically homeless, they have each other to begin anew.

Another family did not fair as well. A dear friend perished and her husband suffered burns to face, ears and hands. He too was homeless for a time.

3 Safety Tips for today:

  • Sleep with your bedroom doors closed
  • Don’t leave candles unattended
  • Have a fire escape plan for your family

Homes and property can be replaced. It is important to know what you can do to be prepared, just in case, for possible fire or smoke hazards in your home, workplace and public places. Don’t make silly mistakes in your festivities. Be fun AND wise in your choices.

May your winter and holidays be special and safe!
